St. Vincent de Paul held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, announcing the opening of their thrift store location at 1402 North Burnside Street, Unit 7, in Gonzales, LA.
The local Society of St. Vincent de Paul has served Ascension Parish for many years. Their mission, through person-to-person contact, encompasses every form of aid which relieves suffering and promotes dignity and integrity. The Society has a rich history of providing critically needed services to our community’s most vulnerable, such as filling prescriptions for the needy at our St. Vincent de Paul Community Pharmacy, as well as providing school uniforms through the Uniforms for Kids project. The Gonzales thrift store operation will serve the needy of the community. In addition, the store will provide an affordable place for people to shop. Any revenues produced by this operation will be put back into charitable programs that assist the needy. Individuals interested in making donations of clothing, furniture, and household items are encouraged to do so by dropping them off at the 1402 N. Burnside location. Individuals are encouraged to volunteer their time in helping the society to be successful in their charitable mission. Anyone wishing to volunteer at this location can call (225) 644-2151 for more information. They are open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Attending the ribbon cutting for St. Vincent de Paul were: President and CEO Michael Acaldo; Stores Director Lucille Cox; Store Co-Managers Pam Nelson and Brenda Rome; City of Gonzales Mayor Barney Arceneaux; Ascension Parish Government Public Information Officer Lester Kenyon; Ascension Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Sherrie Despino; Ascension Chamber Members; Chamber Ambassadors; family and friends.
