This month, the Chamber is proud to feature Ascension Parish Library as our June Member Spotlight!

A single seed can grow into something remarkable — a garden, a skill, a friendship, even a lifelong passion for learning. This summer, Ascension Parish Library invites every community member to grow their imaginations and knowledge by exploring something new through a program, a hands-on experience, and, of course, a book.

This year’s summer reading program, “Plant a Seed, Read,” is inspired by the farm-to-table movement and celebrates how things grow. Kids will learn about farming and create fruit art, while teens and tweens can design mini fairy gardens. Adults can explore healthy eating, seed saving, and planter-making workshops designed to inspire lifelong learning and creativity.

To receive summer reading prizes, readers must meet the goal for their age group. For Read-to-Me (ages 0–5), the goal is 20 books. Adults are encouraged to read 3 books, while kids and teens (ages 6–18) are challenged to read for 30 days. Experts recommend reading 15–20 minutes a day to build vocabulary, strengthen literacy skills, and encourage a lifelong love of learning.

APL’s Summer Reading Program runs through Friday, July 31. Check out more at myAPL.org/SRP.
